The Best Hike of My Life!!!

Excelsior Peak in the Mount Baker National Forest Area

This was really awesome looking - the reflection of these trees in a lake.

TWO roads diverged in a yellow wood,
And sorry I could not travel both
And be one traveler, long I stood
And looked down one as far as I could
To where it bent in the undergrowth;

Then took the other, as just as fair,
And having perhaps the better claim
Because it was grassy and wanted wear;
Though as for that, the passing there
Had worn them really about the same,

And both that morning equally lay
In leaves no step had trodden black.
Oh, I marked the first for another day!
Yet knowing how way leads on to way
I doubted if I should ever come back.

I shall be telling this with a sigh
Somewhere ages and ages hence:
Two roads diverged in a wood, and I,
I took the one less travelled by,
And that has made all the difference.

I couldn't stop thinking about this poem all during the hike. It fits it just perfectly.  It's really hard to try to describe this hike... you just have to go and do it to appreciate it as much as I did! It's definitely one of my favorites because: you hike through the forest, base of the mountains, hills, open meadows, then back in the woods again. Lots and lots of creeks and streams. It's relatively flat most of the way, but are a few steep parts. The reward at the top is well worth the last mile of huffing and puffing! The view is basically a 360 degree view of these gorgeous mountains. And directly in front of you is Mount Baker. Saw a few Varied Thrushes, Northern Harriers, Grey Jays and lots and lots of butterflies and bees. The highlight was all of the wonderfully delicious wild mountain blueberries and huckleberries along the whole trail. Hope you enjoy the pictures! Thank you mom for such an amazing day.

Frog of the Day

I just thought this would make a cute picture. It's not as clear as I'd like to of had it, but its still cute, right?

Three Sister's

Three Sister's

By:  Francis I. Gillespie

We are three sisters
Three sisters are we
I love each of you,
And I know you love me

We’re not always together,
Life sometimes keeps us apart.
But we're never separated
We’re in each other's heart.

Now I know we've had our troubles,
But we always get thru.
The real message is you love me,
And I also love you.

We have had lots of good times
That we'll never forget
Sometimes we worry
And sometimes we fret

But if God ever gave me
Something special you see,
It might have been the blessing of,
Three sisters are we.
The Lord above has gave me lots
Of happiness and glee
But the most special thing he did was
Make us sisters, all three.

Photoshoot With Sister = Fun!

Last night I found myself really bored. Nothing I did seemed to satisfy me. I thought of an idea (why not do another photoshoot of one of my sisters?) So after a little poking and prodding, I finally managed to get Samantha interested in doing a photoshoot with me. It's not really fun anymore for Samantha, as it's something we've done over and over and over again... We went into her closet and pulled out this rather fancy dress. And 47 shots later.... This is what we got! Thank you Samantha for putting up with me. Hope you liked the pictures.

Fun in the mirror!

What could be more fun then a sister?
Someone you can tell all your secrets to, and know they won't get told! (Hopefully!)
Your smile makes my day!
I love you!
Someone you can dress-up, no matter how bizarre the outfit looks!

Leaves and Flowers

I guess you could say I went a little overboard on the pictures for today, right? Here are six more that I took just a few moments ago. Enjoy!

Sunrise, Plants, Spider and More!

Isn't nature just beautiful? I mean, I didn't even set up this shot - the thistle was leaning up against the fence, thus the composition part is already done!
Not quite as clear as I would of liked it - I'm thinking I really need a macro lens.
The more you look... the more you'll see...

This is what you are rewarded with if your up at the crack of dawn!

Yay! All of these photos were shot in manual mode. Hopefully I'm getting it, I think! My favorite is the first and the third one. What about yours?

A Post Each Day This Week

So... this week I'm going to try my very best to do a post every day. The reason is -- I start college on Monday, the 20th. I have a pretty good feeling that this blog won't be getting a whole lot of attention, thus I'm going to take photos every day this week and post them here!

I'd upload some pictures now to post, but unfortunately  I need to sign out.  My siblings must use the computer for class.

I'll post some pics later on in the day!

A Fun Afternoon with Lazlo!

And yes, his shirt was WAYY to large on him!
Lazlo... words don't describe how much I adore you. You are so sweet, kind and funny. Thanks for letting me take 186 pictures of you. And you are very photogenic too.

Unidentified Lichen and Flowers to!

Yay - finally a new post. I've been busy and finding time to take pictures is difficult; let alone it's been raining a lot lately. Might anyone know what the first two pictures are of? I'd love to know! Pictures of adorable Lazlo coming up next!
